Programme Outcomes

Students in their program of study will be able to demonstrate a proficiency in knowledge of essential concepts of visual communication, including:

PO1: Making sustained efforts to create the most effective use of visuals in the media, with the goal of accurately and fairly communicating ideas and information to readers and viewers.

PO2: Building upon a solid foundation of visual communication methods and research to expand the quality and effectiveness of their own creative work.

PO3: Understanding and practicing the philosophy that content and not style is the paramount consideration in the gathering, selection, and creation of excellent visual communication.

Programme Specific Outcomes

Students in their program of study will demonstrate the ability to apply the principles o visual communication, including:

PSO1: Utilizing the basic skills of writing, editing, photography, graphics, design, and interactive media with sufficient expertise to compete for employment within the visual communication industry.

PSO2: Creatively using appropriate visual tools to professionally communicate important and interesting information in a timely manner to a well-defined audience.

PSO3: Possessing the skills necessary to adapt to changing technology found in the visual communication field.

PSO4: Students will have experience in researching techniques, designing, photography, creative writing, and the project proposal process.

PSO5: Students will understand the foundational principles of design, especially in how to utilize design for visual communication media in a way that supports content.

Course Outcomes

CO1: Students will demonstrate a proficiency in the technical aspects of photography, including an understanding of camera controls, menu systems, exposure control, color temperature, white balance, ISO, and image capture.

CO2: Students will demonstrate a proficiency in the technical aspects of audio and video capture, including an understanding of video stabilization techniques, audio capture strategies, recording equipment, and post-processing.

CO3: Students will have knowledge of editing content for various forms of visual communication media, in both narrative and essay formats.

CO4: Students will understand the foundational principles of design, especially in how to utilize design for visual communication media in a way that supports content.

CO5: Students will be able to generate conceptual ideas and original content, and be able to articulate and convey those ideas to others.

They will be able to produce images that reflect their concepts/ideas by using an array of tools (i.e., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, 3D Max, etc.).
