YOUTH RED CROSS (YRC)

Youth Red Cross is one of the wings of Indian Red Cross Society. It is a group movement for students that organized at the college level. YRC provides opportunities for voluntary community service. Becoming a YRC volunteer is a great way to meet the needy people and help humanity. The Youth Red Cross has been functioning in our college since the academic year 2002–2003. The motto of this organisation is to make students realise human obligations and service to society. Our YRC volunteers involve in First-aid, Disaster management, Health, Safety, Medical and Community services. We used to conduct Blood donation camp annually and our college YRC has received Highest Blood Donors award consecutively for Five years.

To provide opportunities to the youth-the makers of the future, to inculcate healthy living habits and to contribute their values to uplift our society.

MISSION

To inspire, encourage community services through training and education and initiate all forms of humanitarian activities at all times so that human sufferings can be minimized and even prevented and this climate for peace.

Activities Report – 2022-2023

Orientation Programme

Organised an Orientation Programme about Youth Red Cross on 13th of September 2022. Pulavar R. Manickam, District Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Kanchipuram District was the Resource Person, who delivered a detailed lecture about the Youth Red Cross thus, made the students feeling proud of being a part of YRC team

Blood Donation Awareness Programme

Organized a Guest lecture on 8th March 2023, to create an awareness among the student volunteers about the Importance and Benefits of Blood Donation. Mr. Kalaiselvan, PRO, Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch, gave the awareness talk. During the session, students were educated on various aspects of Blood Donation like, the types of blood group, importance of knowing the blood group, who can donate blood and the precautions to be followed before and after donating blood etc. The students had the opportunity of clarifying their doubts during the question answer session.
