HISTORY
Yoga and Meditation Cell was started from Academic year 2021-2022.
Dharmamurthi Rao Bahadur Calavala Cunnan Chetty’s Hindu College Chennai -72 has been running a Yoga and Meditation Cell in the college since 2021.The aim of yoga is integrating the body, mind and thoughts so as work for good ends. Modern life style leads to diseases, which are mostly due to poor food habits, heavy daily routines turn easily affect the human body. The importance of Yoga education is also evident in how it helps in self-discipline and self-control, leading to an immense amount of awareness, concentration and higher level of consciousness.
The Yoga and Meditation Cell was started for both students and staff with a lot of objectives such as:
1. To learn how meditation is effective in reducing stress and increasing organization skills.
2. To learn simple meditation and chair yoga postures that can be done at your desk.
3. To become aware of basic yoga philosophies that can help the participant to maintain a positive attitude towards their job and their colleagues.
Yoga and Meditation is essential to keep in good health and make one self-stress free. Yoga helps in many aspects like improvement in understanding concepts, boosting memory, longer attention span, improves posture, increases self-confidence and self-esteem. The Sanskrit word YOGA actually means "union with the divine". Practice of YOGA and Meditation program improves the overall performance, communication, enhance creativity and learn ability that helps in developing student’s leadership and team building skills. Inculcate Ethics & Moral values in students. Improve relationship between teachers & students.
MoU
MOU was signed between Dharmamurthi Rao Bahadur Calavala Cunnan Chetty’s Hindu College Chennai -72 and Heartfulness Education Trust for collaborative and integrated Yoga and meditation programs for the benefit of the students.

Objectives
