The Department of Economics was established in the year 1970 and it offers undergraduate programme as well as skill development programmes to the students, apart from the curriculum-based knowledge transfer method. Special programmes are organized to trigger the interest of the students in current economic affairs. The department transformed itself into a research department in the year 2016. Dr.(Smt.) V. Lakshmi, Principal and Head, serves as the recognized research guide, supervising the research work of Ph.D. scholars. The staff members who are awarded Ph.D. are soon to receive the official recognition to guide research scholars. The staff members have presented numerous research papers in international and national conferences.
