Anti drug cell (DAD)

HISTORY

  • The Anti-Drug Club of D.R.B.C.C.C. Hindu College was established in 2024 as part of the institution's firm commitment to promoting a drug-free and healthy academic environment. In response to the growing concerns about substance abuse among youth, the college proactively initiated this club to educate, prevent, and support students in making informed and positive life choices. Over the years, the club has actively collaborated with law enforcement agencies, healthcare professionals, and NGOs to organize awareness programs, seminars, rallies, and counselling sessions for students.

VISION

  • To build and sustain a drug-free campus by equipping students with knowledge, resilience, and strong values that support a healthy and responsible lifestyle.

MISSION

  • To raise awareness about the dangers and consequences of drug abuse among students.
  • To promote mental, emotional, and social well-being through continuous educational and preventive initiatives.
  • To foster peer support networks that discourage drug use and promote healthy choices.
  • To establish strong partnerships with external agencies for expert guidance and intervention programs.

Objectives

  • Create Awareness: Conduct workshops, campaigns, and educational events to highlight the risks of drug abuse.
  • Promote Prevention: Ensure a drug-free campus through active monitoring, timely counselling, and life-skill training.
  • Empower Students: Train student volunteers to serve as peer educators and ambassadors of the anti-drug initiative.
  • Support National Efforts: Participate in national and international anti-drug campaigns, including International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (June 26).

ACADEMIC YEAR 2025-2026

26-06-2025 International Anti-Drug Abuse Day was observed in our college on 26th June 2025. Around 2000 students and faculty members took part in the event, which aimed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to encourage everyone to stay drug-free.
The program began with a speech by our Principal, Dr.G.Kalvikkarasi, who explained in detail the dangers of drug use and the importance of staying informed and aware.
Next, our Director, Dr. N. Rajendra Naidu, spoke about the importance of this day and the need to focus on the well-being and future of students.
After the speeches, Dr. S. Kannadasan led the pledge against drug abuse, and all the students and staff took the oath to stay away from drugs and promote a healthy lifestyle.
The event was well-organized by Dr. B. Balamurali, the covenor of the College Anti-Drug Club, with the help of the Club members. Their efforts made the program successful and meaningful
16-07-2025 An awareness campaign was organized by our college's Anti-Ragging Club on the 15th and 16th of July, 2025. Over the course of two days, around 25 students from the Department of Accounting and Finance actively participated in the campaign. They carried banners promoting anti-drug awareness and educated their peers about the harmful effects of drug use.
The campaign was led and coordinated by Dr. B. Balamurali, the Anti-Drug Club Convenor, along with association members.
